         Hulsoppu

Hulsoppu is authentic south indian curry. It is easy to prepare and tastes good.

Ingredients:
Palak / Spinach  - 1 bunch finely chopped
Dantina soppu / Red spinach - 1 bunch finely chopped
Menthya soppu/ Methi / fenugreek leaves 1 bunch finely chopped
Onion - 1 medium sized chopped
Coconut - 2 tbsp
Asafoetida - 1tsp
Toor dal - 1 cup
Tamarind juice - 3 tbsp
Sambar powder - 2 tbsp
Rasam powder - 2 tbsp
Jaggery powder - 1 tsp
Salt to taste - 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves - a handful

Procedure:

1. Mix all the three chopped greens and wash 2-3 times.

2. Put Dal, Greens, coriander leaves, onion, coconut and asafoetida all together in a bowl and boil it in your pressure cooker. Let whistle for 3 - 4 times.

3. On cooling down add tamarind juice, rasam powder, sambar powder, salt,jaggery and bring it to boil on a medium flame. According to your taste you can alter the taste of tamarind juice, sambar powder and salt.

4. Finally, you can do the seasoning , take a griddle add 1 tsp oil add mustard seeds, when it splutters add methi seeds, small pieces of red chillies, curry leaves. Then switch off the flame and put this seasoning to the dal mixture and  mix well. boil for a min.

Your delicious Hulsoppu is ready to eat with rice.
