         Pudina Bhath

A delightful and mint flavoured pudina rice is simple and easy to prepare.  Pudina rice is ideal for lunch box too.

pudina rice

Preparation Time: 30 mins

Servings: 4 - 5 people


Mint Leaves/Pudina Leaves - 2 bunches

Onion - 1 cut into big sized

Ginger - 1 inch

Rice - 2 cups

Lemon - 1

Green chillies  - 3 big sized

Salt to taste

Grated coconut - 2 tbsp

Potatoes - 2 cut into big sized.

Oil - 1 tb sp

1. Cook rice in your pressure cooker with 4 cups of water. Double the rice quantity. Let go with 3 whistles and switch off. Let it cool.

2. Boil potatoes in microwave or in steam. Let it not be too soft.

3. Grind pudina leaves, chillies, ginger, onion, coconut in a mixer. Grind it to very fine paste.

4. Put oil in the kadai, put the masala paste and fry for 5 mins in a medium flame. Next put the boiled potatoes and fry with the masala paste. Put salt and fry for 5 mins.

5. Mix this paste with the rice. check for salt consistency. Add salt if required.

6. Add lemon juice and mix well with the rice.

Your Mint rice is ready to serve.
