Jeera rice is an easiest flavoured rice can be prepared with very few ingredients.
Ingredients:
Rice: 1 cup
Water: 2 cups
Green Peas : 1/2 cup
Green chillies: 1 slit
Onion : 1 sliced
Ghee: 1 tbsp
cashew: 8
raisins : 2 tbsp
Jeera: 1 tbsp
bay leaf / tej patta: 1
cinnamon: 1 inch
cardamom / elachi: 2 pods
cloves: 5
pepper: 1/2 tsp
lemon juice: 1 tsp
salt as required
Procedure:
1. Take a pressure pan heat ghee and roast cashew , raisins and keep it aside.
2. In the same pan saute jeera, bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and pepper.
3. Add sliced onion, slit green chilli and saute until the onions turn golden brown.
Add green peas.
4. Now add soaked basmati rice (soaked and drained after 20 minutes), 2 cups of water, salt to taste and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
5. When the pressure releases add fried nuts from step 1, lemon juice and mix well.
Serve Jeera rice with dal or kurma.
